These two differentiated parts of the composition represent two antagonistic situations present in the so-called Valles Marineris of the planet Mars, one in the past, full of water, with life, a pleasant atmosphere and a lot of fluidity, the other, in the present, appears harsh, full of dust, dry and inert. Long piece, with improvisations of bass, trumpet, tenor sax and finally a drum solo to end in the head-out. This composition is found on the album in quintet format with the incorporation of Joaquín Muro on trumpet.

I have to admit that I neither have heard of Argentinian Julián Solarz nor Catalan Frederic Mompou but as among the (too) few people who bought this album there were 3 fellow Bandcampers (r3n3, little james and Neil Hobkirk, thanks, guys!) whom I follow, I had to give this a listen - and then a buy ;-)
"Chamber jazz" is what I would have labelled this and as it's among the tags given, that might be okay... Carsten Pieper
